Inspiring and supporting young people seriously injured through sport

Paige Murray

PAIGE MURRAY

Paige Murray T34 Wheelchair Racer, from Leicester and member of Coventry Godiva Harriers Wheelchair Racing Academy. 2016 will see me compete in my third competitive season. Having successfully made my Great Britain debut at the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games in the 400m, I was using a borrowed racing chair. My previous chair was no longer suitable, as a result I required a new racing chair specifically built just for me. The right equipment really does do wonders and supports great opportunity to achieve every potential.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have the support from the Matt Hampson Foundation. I have Cerebral Palsy (CP) diagnosed at 2 ½ years, and have never known life without my CP. I have always worked hard to achieve all my aspirations no matter how challenging. My progression in athletics is no exception. After speaking with Matt and his team they generously agreed to provide the funds for my new racing chair. I was overwhelmed, a huge weight lifted. Needless to say it was a decision greatly received with such delight. I can now put all my energy into training and prepare for those races ahead of the coming season. Thank you will never be enough.

My development continues, already I have made significant progression and I am confident that I'm on my way to reaching my potential. Making sure I give it my all to be the best athlete I can be.
