Sports Bash 2014 at Stamford School

On Friday 25th and Saturday 26th July at Stamford School Cricket Ground, Dean Headley’s Sports Bash was basked in glorious sunshine. The two days of sporting celebrity cricket saw thousands of pounds raised for the Thorpe Hall Hospice Appeal and the Matt Hampson Foundation.

Friday morning started with the Humberts Cup, a 6 a side Kwik Cricket tournament featuring 16 local teams. The main event of the day was an All Star XI including the cricketing legends, Andrew Caddick and Simon Jones, taking on a Local Legends XI. The standard of cricket was very high with plenty of fours and sixes. The day was completed with live music and a Hog Roast.

The Saturday match was a major East Midlands clash between a Leicester Tigers XI and Northampton Saints XI. The fun started with a corporate lunch compared by Charlie Dagnall followed by the players stepping out to do battle on a slightly different pitch to their usual rugby arena. The level of cricket wasn't quite as high as the day before but the level of commitment surely was, eventually the Northampton Saints won the match with two balls to spare. Freddie Tuilagi was voted Man of the Match for the second year running.
