An estimated total of over £1000 was raised last weekend by supporters of the Matt Hampson Foundation who ran the Silverstone Half Marathon.
The annual half marathon held at the world famous Silverstone racetrack attracts runners from across the country and this year the Foundation had five entrants.
Foundation runner Kimberley, who raised over £600, said “It was the toughest thing I have ever done. I considered giving up a few times. But I knew that I wouldn't; I was going to cross that finishing line no matter what.”
A Tigers supporter for years, Kimberley was familiar with Matt’s story and the work of the Foundation “there was only one charity I wanted to raise money for. Matt Hampson and everyone who has been helped by the foundation are such an inspiration to never give up and reading their stories and the Foundations plans for the Get Busy Living Centre made me even more determined to raise as much money as I could.”
When asked what advice she would give to anyone thinking of running a similar event for the Foundation Kimberley said “Definitely do it! I know I said it was the toughest thing I've done, but the sense of pride and achievement I feel now is incredible!”
The Matt Hampson Foundation currently has places for the British 10K on the 10th July 2016 and will have places for the Silverstone Half Marathon in 2017. For information on places or how to support the Foundation in other events email firstname.lastname@example.org
