Welford Road applauds wheelchair rugby success

Leicester Tigers league-winning wheelchair rugby team received a rapturous reception when they were welcomed to Welford Road before the Tiger’s Aviva Premiership win against Wasps.

The team were introduced to the 25,849 crowd ahead of kick-off to celebrate their historic table-topping season.

The squad were crowned champions of the BT Super Series Division One following the final weekend of fixtures at the end of February.

Roy Jackson, Tommy Cawston and Tony Bolton from the Foundation were all at the game and caught up with the guys at a reception after the game.

Tommy commented “ It was great to see the team get such a fantastic reception from the Welford Road crowd, they have worked so hard over the last few years to establish the club its fantastic to see them now reaping the rewards. Everyone at the Foundation is very proud to be associated with the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Team and we look forward to seeing the guys up at the Get Busy Living Centre soon”.
