Steve’s Way of the Roses Cycle Challenge

Steve Smith raised over £300 for the Foundation by taking on the Way of the Roses Route a three day cycling challenge covering 174 miles.

Here’s his three day diary of the event

Way of the Roses Route
Day 1: Train from Rugby to Lancaster and then cycled to start at Morecombe Bay. Then followed route over undulating lanes to Settle. Big climb out of town on cobbled street over moors to Pateley Bridge for first night (66M).
Day 2: Up steep climb towards Ripon and then on to York for lunch. Then flat ride to Pocklington for night two in farmhouse (61M).
Day 3: Early start and another steep climb into dry valley and then lovely flat ride through Yorkshire Wolds with tail wind to Bridlington (47M).

Fish and chips tasted great at Harbour View Restaurant. Had lift back which made the return journey more comfortable.

A huge thank you to Steve from us all at the Foundation. If you are looking to support the work we do and have a fundraising challenge then please do let us know by emailing
